Just got a Voigtländer Vito BL!

Wow, what a nifty little camera!! Got it for 4 euros from the bay, its small, well built, looks good, got a very interesting rewind crank that pops out with a press of a button, got a cool back-door opening thingy which took me 10 min to figure out 😀 The FINDER is great! Bright and 1:1 mag. The LENS is Color Skopar 50/3.5. If this camera had a Rangefinder I'd be in Heaven!
I also got a close-up attachement "Proxirect", which looks like it came out of this world and I didn't even know it was included! plus... a set of filters and a hood. How cool is that?

Can't wait to see what the first film will look like. 😀

I got a booklet from a friend from his old dad of his Vito Color Lanthar. I am thinking to get the matching camera.

The lens on these is quite good. Mine is lowish on the contrast but nice and sharp. They did make a version with a rangefinder called the VITO BR alhtough these are relatively rare and command a much higher price.

I picked up a little Vitoret on the bay a while back. I need to finish the roll. It has a 50/2.8 color lanther lens. I think i'll carry it with me to Lynchburg Va tomorrow & finish up the roll.

You may also look for a Vitomatic IIa (with Color Skopar 2,8). There are plenty of those around and one should cost you way below 300 €; more like 30..50. 🙂

There is also a Vitomatic IIa with Ultron 2,0 lens but that may well cost you 100 €.

Also there are the newer Vitomatics (IIb, IIIb and II CS, IICS). The CS have not that good a reputation though.

Most consider the IIa to be the best (in terms of quality) of the Vitomatic line.

Be prepared to have a slightly hazy viewfinder. At least mine has one. And it's imposible to get inside and clean. My BLs viewfinder on the other hand is crystal clear just as yours.. Best viewfinder I own.. Too bad I have to guestimate the focus.

Congratulations. You got a great little package.

In addition to some folding Vitos, as well as the Vito B, I also have a little Vitomatic IIb.

The Vitomatic IIb is a nice little camera. It has a coupled rangefinder, a selenium meter that is still accurate and a front-mounted shutter release.

Hans is correct -- there were a large number of Vito cameras, including folding and rigid models. Some had simple lenses, while others (including the Vito III) had the excellent Ultron.
