My Canon FTb shutter is on the fritz, and what w/ the cost of a CLA and all, I was thinking it would be cheaper to buy a more modern FD mount camera. The T90 sounds interesting, but it looks really big. Does anyone here own one? Is it Nikon F4s size?

It's smaller and quite a bit lighter weight than an F4.

The T90 is simple to use and has an excellent meter.

The shutter is a little loud, but it doesn't bother me.

I use mine for portraits with an FD 85/1.2 L and for walking around macros, with a Vivitar 90-180 flat field macro.

I do believe that Camera Quest has an excellent write up in their Classic Camera review section.

I don't have access to my old T90 at the moment, but it's roughly the same size as my 5D (wo/battery grip). Maybe slightly shallower in depth as well.

While it is larger than the FTb, AE1P and the like, it also fits well in the hand, so the size/feel disappears. Obviously, this doesn't change the actual size, but you see what I mean.

Sounds good except for the shutter noise, but I can live w/ that. My N8008s has a somewhat loud shutter too. I think I'll get one. While I really love my FTb, I have to admit it's an old camera w/ a cloth shutter, and getting it CLA'd isn't going to make it any younger. An F1 is fine too, but I have trouble focusing the original ones, and a brighter focus screen costs as much as the camera. I'll get one from KEH because I can get a warranty and I've always enjoyed dealing w/ them. Thanks!

The T90 looks huge from the online photos, which is why I asked about the F4s comparison. Glad to know it's not in that size/weight category.

It may look bulbous and plasticky, but like it's Japanese nickname implies, it's built like a tank. That said, a common issue is a magnet problem which causes EEE to be displayed. I solved mine by hitting it against something a few times, then exercising the shutter. It was probably stored for too long. Not sure if it's the best solution, but it worked for me.

I was sorta worried about the possibility of just that Clive, but it's good to know that at least one person has fixed it by the Fonzie Fonzarelli method :] Thank you for the tip.

That was another reason why I went w/ KEH. Just bought one there for $68, shipped. It's in Bgn condition and has an engraving somewhere so they discounted it. Hopefully it's nice and beat up too, my preferred type of camera.

Have you looked at/used the Canon A-1? Solid. Smaller than the FTb. Rugged. Shutter or Aperture priority metering. I like mine.
Have you seen the T90 listed for sale here at Rangefinder Forum?
