Hello everyone,

I am super excited! I just picked up a Leica M8 and am having a great time testing it out around Toronto. I have been shooting for about 10 years now, but have not had this time since I first started shooting black and white film.

I would have gone back to shooting film, but I am a product of the digital age, and don't think I could do it right now. The Leica M8 seems like a great compromise.

I shot a large DSLR for years now, and am really looking forward to the smaller bodies.

I have been testing the 25mm 2.8 Biogon and 35mm 2 from Carl Zeiss, trying to decide which one I like better. Both lenses feel great on the M8.

I am looking forward to being active on the forums and posting some photos from the new camera.

Below are some images shot with the camera and lenses.

Thanks so much for the welcome and the suggestions. I think everyone's advice is great and I am probably going to stick with the 25mm f/2.8 first, it seems to be more versatile, small, light and great for a walk around lens.

I am probably going to grab the 35mm f/2 from Zeiss next just because of price point. I would love the Leica version, but it may have to wait for a bit.

For a 50mm I am leaning towards the 50mm Planar from Zeiss. I have read pretty good things about this lens and the focus shift is kind of keeping me away from the 50mm 1.5 version. I think this is going to make a great mid telephoto and should round out a nice three lens kit for travel.

I am really excited about my photography right now, it is hard to explain, but I have not felt this way in years. So much fun to carry a small, lightweight camera around with you wherever you go.

Looking forward to posting more pics.

Here are a couple from the last few nights.

I'm also looking at the (Zeiss 25mm/F2.8), I'm new to the M8.2 and currently have a 50mm Summicron..Since the Ziess is not coded are there extra post processing steps required (ie vignetting)?
