Two weeks ago I picked up a Mamiya 6 with the 50mm and 75mm lenses. The camera is nothing but a joy to use and I've been blowing through 5 packs every couple days since I bought it. Here's a sampling of my first couple weeks with the Mamiya. Most of the photos were shot on Ektar but I very recently discovered the new Portra 400 and fell in love. The scans don't do them justice compared to the c-prints.

I also own a Mamiya 6 and the 50 and 75 lenses and can't agree with you more. The camera is a winner and I am very pleased with the MF images taken with it . The only small complaint I have is that the lenses are not fast, but that difficulty can be overcome by using fast film to compensate for the relatively slow lenses.

Thanks. My other cameras have been collecting dust since I've picked this one up. I haven't gotten the swing of shooting with the 50mm though. It's hard for me to see (frame) square and wide so I may end up selling the lens. The lenses are slow but I'm used to shooting on the street with my Yashica-C so I don't have anything faster to compare it with.

It's an awesome camera and the only reason I sold mine was that I wanted f2.8 and (I thought) square didnt work for me.
Nice photos, especially the first one. It's hard to fill the frame when doing a square portrait but your model almost made it LOL

I have a Mamiya 6 and all three lenses. It's a great kit.
Don't be in such a hurry to sell the 50mm. Give it some more time and you might get used to it. That's a lens that's hard to find.

I've recently tried shooting architecture with it since that's what I'm used to with my digital gear and discovered that's not a strong suit for a rangefinder. Still on the fence with the 50mm.
On the 1st two tornadoes touched down in Springfield, MA and I went the following day to document the aftermath. Here's a few of the photos from the 10 rolls I shot.

wow, I've always wondered how to fill a square frame (other than shooting the cat diagonally), but you've seem to have nailed the composition for square.

Thanks. I have a hard time filling a rectangle (6x9) unless it's vertical so the square works out well for me. I try cropping my 35mm shots square but usually don't leave enough room on the sides and end up tossing the shots.
This is one camera I will probably never sell. Part of me wants to pick up a Mamiya 7 with the 50mm since I seem to shoot wide easier with a slight rectangle. The deal breaker on the 7 is the external viewfinder and non-collapsable lenses.

I had the Mamiya 6 but sold it as I couldn't come to terms with the square format, although I got on better with the 75 than the 50.
I have roughly 40 photos from the second set that I am very happy with. I plan to edit them down and make a series of 20 or 25 13x13" c-prints for myself or to show people in person. I've been shooting for a few years but shooting in the wake of the tornadoes has been by far the most moving experience taking photos thus far.
