just picked up a rolleicord IV for $100

In my view it is a fair price, if the cam is in excellent +++ condition. You should know whether it works otherwise USD 100 is to much (If you follow prices at the German Ebay site you see that these type of cameras go for about Euro 60 or 70, they pay more for the Va or Vb). Here is a number IV which currently does about EUr 70 on German Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.nl/Alte-ROLLEICORD-...emQQptZPhotographica_Film?hash=item35a6caa1b6. Ah it ended on Euro 89,99. So you did a good deal with the USD 100!.....but not a steal imho

I paid $180 for mine, then needed to put some money into it for a CLA. Does yours need work? If not, this was a very good bargain. Even if it does, it might still be a pretty good deal. If you need a repair person, check elsewhere on the site for some suggestions. I've got a good guy in NJ, but there are others elsewhere as well. Enjoy.

Slow speeds

Congrats, a Rolleicord is a good thing to have!
How about the slow speeds, 1/15th and slower? They tend to gum up when the camera was sitting unused too long. If you do not have it already, a hood for the taking lens (against flare/stray light) might be an useful investment for your Rolleicord-photography.

Santa brought my Rolliecord - bless 'im!....best visit he ever made around here!. Speeds below 1/15 were a bit slow, but I sat watching TV and 'exercised' the shutter for an hour - now it's fine!, some Jim Beam helped a lot....( me - not the camera! ) 😛

yep....no hangups at all....the kid I bought it from said his grandfather gave it to him 3 months ago.... it was well taken care of.... Now I need some filters and a hood

About a hood: I tried being economical and bought a new plastic bayonet aftermarket lens hood. Well, the thing fits, but the bayonet does not line up the sqaure hood with the square frame. Waste of money, IMO. Just spring for the more expensive but proper metal lens hood. I bought one here at RFF for $20.

congrats, I think the IV is the nicest 'cord to use

...it has the interlock to keep you from double-exposing the film, the Xenar ... and does not have the annoying rolleicord lvs shutter.

You may find the focusing screen corners a bit dark. Try picking up a rolleigrid. Jimmy Koh (kohscamera.com) may have one or two left.

That's a good deal, and a great camera. A steal was the Rolleiflex with 3.5 Tessar I got from caigslist for $80.

lol me too, but I got a rolleiflex 2.8E for $300, currently it's in the hand of guru Fleenor for complete overhaul 😀
