I was invited to give a 2.5 hour photo workshop for a local college, and it was a great time. Went over photo basics and then did a mini photoshoot with the students and faculty that joined me. The best part is I've been asked back to teach a 1 credit 7 week course in the future!! Very excited for the opportunity to pass on the knowledge that I've gained to the folks in my area. It's also my alma mater, so that makes it doubly exciting.

I taught some 30 years ago. I was lucky to get students who were anxious to learn. No slackers. It was a lot more fun that way. I am sure you will enjoy it.

Congratulations Mudman, would love to hear more about your class.

I have been contemplating teaching a photo class at the university that I currently work in. I had my secretary do some research on the university's website and they don't offer photography classes but their main campus in Bangkok does. I already currently teach on campus but I don't teach photography but many of my students know that I am a photographer and they are always asking me questions about photography.

I enjoy the free time that I have to go out and take photos but I see a need in the university's curriculum and I am contemplating if I should "step up tp the plate".

cheers, michael

Hey Michael,

It was a pretty basic workshop that I did; went over some techniques and compositional ideas for shooting documentary style photography. The course will be 1-1.5 hrs per week for 7 weeks. Aimed at beginners, I'll start with the basics of how cameras operate manually and work up from there on composition, subject matter, etc. Probably assign a concert or two and other events on campus with a half hour of each class dedicated to peer review of last week's assignment.
