Just When I Thought I Had Enough Camera Bags...

Will your Leica fit in that bag?

If it was the body only it would just fit (though I think a screwmount body with a collapsible lens would). What does fit (and what I intended to use it for) was one lens, a hood, spare battery, and the cap for the lens that's already on my camera body (there's a narrow pocket inside). So I can comfortably fit my 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor-SC, its hood, spare battery, and the lens cap for 3.5cm Summaron that's on one of my digital Leicas. Exactly what I was looking for.

My tiny tribute to Kate S p a d e.

I've learned over time that one never has 'enough' camera bags. One simply has the bag(s) that work and all the ones that didn't that you haven't discarded/returned/given away yet. :D

Cute bag. Not that I ever knew of Kate ***** before, but I looked at the kate*****.com website: There are a lot of interesting handbags there.

It's a neat little bag - all leather, nice-quality interior, and just - just! - big enough to hold your essentials. 4"x6"x2".

Her recent death hit me a bit harder than Anthony Bourdain's death for some reason.

What's with the business of eliding the "s*p*a*d*e"? Doesn't anyone on here ever use a shovel anymore? Sheesh.

My latest *unnecessary and over the top* bag purchases were for the Wotancraft Easy Rider and Mini Rider sling bags. They're really nice ... the latter is nice and tight like this one for carrying a minimal kit. :)

It's a slur from the Jim Crow days. It's the main reason I have trouble telling people I was stationed on the USS S p a d efish (SSN 668).

I just had a quick look at those Wotancraft bags. Very interesting!

They remind me (slightly) of some of Brooks's bicycle bags. The Brixton and Barbican in particular. Another over the top bag-maker, if you're looking for more!

Oh yes: I remember seeing those. Brooks makes some beautiful stuff.

The Wotancraft bags are kind of "postmodern steam-punk" in style, but they really do the job well on the bicycle or motorcycle. They don't move around at all, and the "Easy Rider" lets me carry the Hasselblad SWC with ease. And the design, the quality of materials and construction are immediately apparent as soon as you pick one up. Truly a notch beyond, if pricey.

I don't have enough closets to dedicate one to camera bags. I have a shoulder bag for my 35mm/digital kit, and a backpack for my 4x5 kit. They are all I need.
