Just when you thought it couldn't get sillier.

Andreas Kaufmann has had his prototype for a couple of years, now. Honestly, I think it looks gorgeous.

Just almost as good as this, for example

It always amuses me that some Americans quote the proverb "The nail that sticks up is hammered down" as if rabid conformism were not quite as common as it is in so much of their own country.

Mind you, school blazers in the UK can often be relied upon for plenty of colour, often in the vilest combinations. This is from my old school, worn from the prep school, as here, up to the age of about 16 (in the VIth form, they were dark blue or black, I forget which).

Frances reckons it might be an anti-paedophile measure. See a jacket like that, and you don't even notice what's inside it.

Gym kit was all white, though.

Cheers,

R.

Hi,

I thought those jackets were to make an easy target for the guards if you tried to escape...

PS The local posh schools here seems filled with conformists but on the other side of the road is a normal school and I just love the way they twist the uniform regulations.

Disregarding the colour, the fact that the technology exists to manufacture Leica lenses in a range of colours is interesting. We already have black and silver anodized lenses. Some other "tasteful" colour choices in the future would be desirable for some.
I'd consider a safari green or titanium gray, for example...

No, I have not.
But I googled and I see what you are driving at.
I have been to Murano and Burano though.
It is possible to tastefully photograph them too.

Thanks; my version of the town is in-between my ears and I'd not thought to do a search. The panorama in Wikipedia is just how I see it and remember it.

Thanks again, David

I guess they must have come up with this to end all doubt: Leica is now a boutique brand.

Wait, they aren't a boutique camera manufacturer before?

Seriously, the need to please rich Chinese with rare, luxurious items has ended when their government 'cracking down' corruption. And this is ghastly

The next logical step is to release a lens in rainbow candy stripes, one colour for each ring on the lens barrel. They could call it the "full spectrum colour" lens. It could be a useful stealth lens for photographing the Gay Mardi Gras in Sydney.

Hi,

Without changing the brand name they won't be able to do it but "LEICA+" might work for the rainbow effect.

Thus:- LEICA+ Silly enough?

BTW, I don't mind them bringing out all these cameras if it keeps them going and enables me to buy last year's or even last year's but one's cameras second-hand for a lot less. And they are usually unused or barely used.

In the Chinese culture there are lucky numbers and then there are unlucky numbers. I know that red is a good color in Chinese culture. A red Summicron must be a good lens!
