Just won an Ansco Automatic Reflex.

Congratulations in order, a fantastic looker of a camera.

I've been in the market for one for ages, but they are often saddled with issues - the technically complicated beasts they are. I really hope yours is a good one.

Best of luck and let us see a picture or two from the camera when you get round to it. Don't be shy.

I had one for a cpl of years and mine was completely restored by Mael a member here. They are heavy beauties and can be quite good users but they take getting used to. Be patient when learning to load and set the counter.....that process is really over the top.

Thanks guys...

I did read on Mark Hansen's blog that he no longer works on them... So fingers crossed it's a good one.

Will dutifully oblige with pics once it's in my hand 🙂

Cheers!

I was watching that, but just to see what it would go for. For such a rare model, I think you did okay. And he gave you the loading instructions, too.

I agree. One of the better listings, and indeed not too steep a price compared to what others have been asking. The seller seemed to be familiar with the camera, not many are.

Just got the Camera in the mail...

It's a beast! I can totally understand the moniker "The Hudson of TLR's" now!

Looks just as good to my eyes as it did on the ebay listing. Item is as described... and works... Awesome awesome awesome...

Seller included some old film... so as a test roll am shooting some fuji ngh II 800... but am shooting it at 200 asa since it's about 11 years past expiry... Should be interesting.

Will put some proper film in it tomorrow.

And yeah... setting the "automat" function is a royal pain in the bum...

But wow... I'm in love already 🙂

Pics to follow.

Here are some of the better shot photos from the first roll...

Not sure how to get the thumbnails here... but check out the link...

Am pretty pleased with it 🙂

What type of filter mount does it have? If it's bayonet, there are all sorts of filters and hoods out there, and if it's screw thread mount, then just get anything that size. If no bayonet or threads, measure the outside diameter of the lens ring, and use push-on filters and hoods. And you can get adapters in thread-on, push-on, and bayonet that allow the use of Series size filters and hoods. That way, you're not paying out the wazoo for OEM stuff.
