I have recently bought a couple of new adapters for my m43 and Sony NEX cameras for Nikon lenses. The brand K&F Concepts is one of the best I have found at any price point. The Nikon ones are particularly good and look good too.

The silver ring depicted is the aperture ring and can be used either with lenses that have an aperture ring (in preset mode - set the "target" aperture on the lens then stop down using this ring on the adapter when ready to shoot. BTW of course when shooting with a Nikkor with its own aperture ring you are not obliged to use the ring on the adapter - you can ignore it if you prefer. It works either way).

But best of all it can be used with later Nikkor lenses made without an aperture ring. OK I know there are many others that do this as well - I have some but the engineering of this one is far better and more precise than any I have tried from other Chinese makers. No wobbles. No crummy parts, it seems to be made to last.

But here is the best thing and my reason for posting. The adapter's aperture ring has its own detente clicks. What this means in practice is that it is possible if you remember what your lense's maximum is to stop down precisely each time you take a shot when using a lens that does not have its own ring. If its an f 2 lens and you wish to shoot at f5.6, just recall the sequence - from f2 - f2.8 - f4 - f5.6 and count the clicks. The detents on the adapter may not correspond exactly to the f stops on the lens of course but they should be reasonably close - close enough in any event for day to day application.

The cost was around $20 + Australian. Double the cost of the cheap adapters but still cheap by any measure. I have tried some of their other adapters and the ones for Canon FL/FD seem extremely well engineered too. I did find one Nikkor that was tight to mount. But all others I have tried have been fine suggesting the issue if there is one is with that lens not the adapter. The ones for M42 are simpler but equally robust. No connection to me but I just thought people might like to know.

PS it looks very good on the camera too - kind of old world looking due to the wavy shape of the ring and its chrome look.
