I think that anyone's reaction to this picture depends on their experience of organized religion. Some might see this as a sweet picture, out of place in this thread, while others might see it as Kafkaesque, indeed. I fall in the latter group.

What the hell is kafkaesque about father & son???I think that anyone's reaction to this picture depends on their experience of organized religion. Some might see this as a sweet picture, out of place in this thread, while others might see it as Kafkaesque, indeed. I fall in the latter group.

I am under the impression that the man holding the child is a priest. If, as you say, it's the child's father, then I would agree with you. What the hell is kafkaesque about father & son???

It’s a priest.
Also, if you don’t think a photo of a father showing off his son is Kafkaesque, read Brief an den Vater.

Hah! Going through old images, I ran across this and immediately thought of this thread. I believe this is from a museum in Florence - early 2000’s. I recall the capture and scan resulting in such a weak image that I applied the effect we see because it just seemed appropriate…it seems, years later, I have finally found a place where it actually is somewhat appropriate…This is so astoundingly excellent I am not even sure what I am looking at.
