Hi folks,
Tonight, I was at my local Kash n' Karry, a Floridian(?) chain of supermarkets. While there, I noticed they had their own house brand of film, which was quite cheap. Anyway, it said it was made in Italy and finished in the USA. Any thoughts as to what kind of film this is?

As a side note, a lot of Kash n' Karry's around here are becoming Sweet Basil and things are getting really cheap there.

The RF comparison shots in my gallery are on house brand/Ferrania. It's OK, but I wouldn't buy more.

OTOH, at least one of our local Dollar Tree stores has a lot of Konica 100 C41 film for a buck a roll. Hmmm.

If it's made in Italy it's Ferrania film. I get it here from Kroger's supermarket sometimes for $1.00 a roll. Not the best stuff but hard to beat the price on sale.

I'm finally going to try this. The local Krogers affiliate (Bakers) had it (4-pack 200) marked down to $3.95 with their loyalty card this morning. For $1 a roll, I can at least give it a shot. 🙂

Bakers is usually high on film. Usually their house brand sells for what I can get Fuji at Target', and Bakers' Fuji prices are correspondingly high.

I'm curious to see how the Ferrania film performs.

I've used the Kroger's (Ferrania) film because I found some short dated stuff in the 'discount' bins at my King Soopers... Like others have mentioned, I think it's not too bad, but not great. In the bright sun it seems ok, but definitely comes back a grainy mess shot in low light.

I'm out of film at the moment and need to watch my pennies, so I've bought some cheap stuff on ebay... I'll let you know how that turns out!

Earl, I've shot some Konica and it's in my gallery. It's a pretty good performer. I'd buy some.

I've been having my color processed at Photoworks, and the package includes "Free" film, which is Ferrania with their name on it. I've been getting more and more dissapointed with the color and grain. You can say 'Oh, I'm just snapshooting, so it's not important', but when you get a good photo, its dissapointing.
I'm ready to waive the "Free" film (saves a buck!), and start using good film. I have some Agfa and Fuji in the freezer that is calling. 😎
