Hello Tom, (Horst tells me you're my kitsilano neighbor by the way!)

I'm just wondering if you know if the KE-7A body has a weather sealed lens mount, or more likely, the Elcan 50mm lens does.

I've come across what seems to be a very affordable KE-7A body (is $2000 affordable?), and seeing as how Horst was amazed by the water stains in my M6, I'm considering it...

The KE 7A had improved weather seals - to what extent it incorporated the mount I dont know. The price for the KE &A sounds very low - DO you have chance to check the authenticity of the package? The Elcan 50 is an interesting lens - it is a low performance lens - The US Army claimed they did not need as good a lens as the Summicron 50 - and ordered a 4 element lens - that cost more than the stock 50f2!!!!
Well, neighbor - lets get together for coffee some time and talk Leica and photography.
Tom

The camera ended up getting scooped up on me, which is fine... It was in NY anyways, with no way of me checking it out short of buying it and having it shipped over. Ah well...

Do you have a particular cafe you frequent? These days I'm wandering alot, watching (and shooting) the city slowly transform before the big event - and I stop for coffee often!

Ryan, I am a "regular" at Cafe' Viva on Yew street (Yew and Cornwall) - and of course, Cafe' Zen on Yew on Friday mornings. There is small, somewhat warped group that gathers there for breakfast, usually from 9'ish to 10.30 am.
I think this Olympics will be known for its chain link fences!!!!!
Tom
