keep the change...

Do you really think some drooling Leica idiot with more money than brains will buy it?

Hopefully ... and he may wear his vintage Rolex while using it as he drives through the rolling hills of Surry or maybe Kentucky in the Bently ... and good luck to him! :)

I have a 20 year old Rolex Submariner( maybe not vintage)and a nice chrome MP. But anyone that would spend $50k for a camera body doesn't have my admiration or envy. As a matter of fact it seems a little sad that someone would lust over something that's just a little bit different and so rare, that they would actually spend that kind of money. I mean to put it on a shelf is silly and if you actually use it , besides yourself maybe one in a million people might recognize it as something a bit different So beside impressing yourself and maybe giving yourself a mild orgasam everytime you looked at it and thought " I'm thing only person in the world that owns one of these"who would really give a rats ass.

I know that Luigi has a Leica 005 in his collection--and now seriously wonder what price he puts on that one!

If I had $50k to spend on this kind of camera I would not give a rat's A$$ what any of you thought.

sure, but it's no different than buying any other rare or one-of-a-kind item. Postage stamps, coins, etc. I'ts a game. SOMEBODY has to own that stuff, although I, like you, have no interest whatsoever in doing so.

I just did a search to find out what a Rolex Submariner would be worth ... holy sh*t! ... who would want that much money attached to the end of their arm?

You can get a nice timepiece for a couple of hundred bucks these days can't you... and time is time?

I'd be willing to bet your camera attached to the end of your arm could cost as much

You bet ... but I think it's important not to pass judgement on anyone who would like a $50000.00 camera on the end of theirs ... or in a glass cabinet as the case may be! :)

I won´t buy it for sure, I don´t like the smell of this....from the description:

"the internal parts were completely analized"

*grin*

Wonder how they did that?

If a collector or investor knows their market, 50 grand might be money well spent because some idiot could pay 70 to 80 grand for it in a couple of years time. But all logic aside, it's only a friggin camera albeit a nice one.

Let´s just wait & see what the Leica museum in Solms has to say about this one.
I just mailed them, after a friend of mine got suspicious.

:)

Cheers /R

I guess your probably right, there are idiots and then there are IDIOTS

Why all the derision? What if it were art or some other collectible? Copies of Shakespeare's first folio, originally priced £1, sells for millions of dollars and major university libraries vie to own one. It's a sublimely useless lump of paper. You can buy a much better edited modern version of the complete works for $20. Those who buy the first folio don't buy it to read.

Same with this - it's not meant to be used, it just happens to be a camera. We who buy things to use should just buy a copy of the Norton Shakespeare (or that M3 in the classifieds) and get on with it.

Your right, and over the years I've looked at it and thought maybe I should sell it buy a Timex and use the money for something more worthwhile. It's now been on my wrist so long, my arm doesn't feel right when I'm not wearing it. I bought it new but if I were buying it today I probably couldn't afford it. Having quality well built things in your life is nice but this is pretty much the same camera that we all use that has a few minor differences at a price that in my world is not just a LOT of money, it's silly. Because you can afford it doesn't make it any less ridiculas. These high priced special editions that Leica puts out are for the same people. A little flag or a signiture or a fancy presentation case and a $2000.00 becomes a 10 or 15 thousand dollar camera. Come on, the people that buys this hype aren't respected for their supposed fine taste and wealth. They're more like nurdy little boys practicing one upmanship which makes it even more unattractive. Now the person with truly enough forsight to buy it and resale it to another even bigger idiot, does have my respect.
