Hi Folks,

I am headed to Iquitos, Peru soon and will be spending about a month there. Along with the standard gear that I generally take on assignment, I want to take my trusty M3. Never having used it in a rain forest before, do I need to do anything special to keep it dry on the inside? I love the camera and I would hate to ruin anything. Any advice or links to previous posts about this would be really appreciated. Thanks! 😀

I've used Ms (M2, M4-P, maybe M3 as well, I can't remember) in the monsoon in India and never taken any special precautions. As long as they're not actually rained on for minutes on end, it shouldn't be a problem.

Cheers,

R.

HERE is a thread in which I asked a similar question. In the end, I put everything in zip-lock bags with silica gel packs and into a Timbuk2 messenger bag. I had no problems.

getting the m3 wet isn't problem, if you really want to ensure dryness, pop off the bottom plate and leave the back door open overnight whenever you're in A/C. Otherwise, like marc above me here said, silica gels are your friend.
