KEH 30% Off On Accessories Sale

I admit it. I succumbed to the 50% off KEH offer.

I bought myself a Sekonic L-408 Multimaster light meter. It was $199 for the meter, so I added a roll of film to increase the total to just over $200. My net total for both items was $105.35. This is about what I spent for my older Sekonic L308S light meter and this one has more features.

Maybe it's not the latest and greatest Sekonic meter and it does not have a 1 degree spot meter, but it does have a 5 degree spot meter and should serve me very well. It's also nice to have a backup meter.

Thanks To Calzone for initially posting about this discount on RFF!

Well, that worked awesome. Picked up another RZ67 polaroid back, an RB67/Press polaroid back, a 4x5 Grafmatic, a metered prism for RZ67, and a Mamiya Press 100/3.5 shade for $113.50. Couldn't go wrong there.

Thanks for the initial heads-up!

KEH may have a new convert if this order comes through. I shopped 'til I dropped and still only had $186, but no problem topping up with some goodies from my "not quite sure" list. Lots of screens, hoods, an F prism, some caps and adapters. I threw in an F3 (no prism) that I'd been meaning to get to go with a finder I already have. That was the only thing that wasn't 1/2 off. I couldn't resist an MD4 to go with it for $9.50 after discount.

All for $200 and a few pennies. I should just let my wife wrap the box as my Christmas present, but I'm not really likely to wait.

Ah ha, now I know who took the sekonic 408 with case out of my basket 🙂

I may be called a lot of names but now I know for sure that I am a thief 🙂

That's very interesting because it was in my basket for what seems like the longest time while I researched the L-408. Then I finally came back and clicked to submit the order.

Moral of the story: If you want it, and it's being sold at a deep discount, BETTER GRAB IT 🙂

I would have liked to have a meter with a 1 degree spot, so maybe your loss is actually a blessing in disguise. You can now look around for a better meter at a similar bargain price.

The L-408 is the first piece of photo gear I actually bought new. No regrets, it is a great meter. It isn't as bulky, and is more versatile than most 1 degree spots. It is splash waterproof, but if I'd drop it of the back of a ferry, I'd go out and buy another one.

Now I'm really looking forward to getting it and using it. I like the fact that you can set the meter in aperture priority. My 308S only allows shutter priority and it's not the way I prefer to meter.

That's one of the things that really appealed to me. It rains a lot in Portland and that feature will come in really handy when I'm out shooting and it starts to rain. Believe me, it has happened more than once.

Hey, have you guys been selling off all your oil stocks today in order to buy more accessories at Keh? I think wall street got the message.

Christian,

The time for day trading oil stocks was 2004-2007. I sold all my oil stocks when oil first hit $135.00 and then closed my margin account. Later that same day that oil first hit $135.00 it peaked at $147.00 and then crashed. If I did not sell at $135 earlier that day I would have beened ruined.

After the energy bubble popped in 2007 I bought hard assets with my profits. It seems that everyone was selling their treasures, and that is when I started to buy Leica glass. Bought a German 75 Lux for $1850.00 that was minty, bought a Germain version 4 35 Cron for $1250.00.

Anyways If it were not for the energy bubble I would not own any Leica gear and I would be just a poor Nikon SLR slob. LOL. As a carry over of bad behavior I am known to day-trade cameras. LOL.

It looks like KEH needs to update their profile on you.

By now KEH should know that I only waste time online on the internet at work at my boring day-job. LOL.

Even funier is how the joke about a 50% sale became true. Also glad that others enjoyed the event, even though I missed out.

BTW at noontime I got a delivery. Now I have a full stocking. LOL.

Actually, I grabbed the last 408 on the shelf anyway 😛

Shipping is prohibitive where I am. The 50% discount made the decision much easier! 🙂

Looking forward to receiving this too!

Ellen,

Sniper is the better term.

BTW I once tried to buy a used 21/3.4 Super Elmar from Pop Flash, one of our sponsors, at a great price, but someone sniped the lens from me. The listing on Pop Flash was still up, but the lens was not available.

Since I have a boring day-job, because I work unsupervised, and because I'm a clever guy; I used the power of the internet and RFF to mine data like the NSA to find the guy who sniped my lens from me. It was Jean-Marc from the NYC Meet-Up LOL.

A while later I was able to secure another 21/3.4 Super Elmar at the same great price.

The world is not that big.
