KEH Shipping Internationally (In particular Canada)

UPS is GARBAGE. I just paid $17.00 brokerage fees on parts for my juicing machine that cost $22.00. To make matters worse the company sent me the wrong parts. I will never use UPS again if I can avoid it. I never had any problems with USPS.

It's been a little while since I've ordered from KEH. I have always chosen the fast FedEx option and don't recall having to pay a brokerage fee, only the HST on the items received. However, I don't think I checked the waybills closely so there could have been a brokerage fee in there.

B&H has changed their shipping options. So now if you choose UPS WorldWide Saver you get hit with a small brokerage fee (about $10). Used to be that the fast UPS services had no fees at the door. So I don't know what's changed.

The problem is that I still come out ahead on so many types of items that I will continue to order from the US when needed.

It has been said time and again on this forum that it is almost a certainty that you will get hit with "brokerage fees" if you receive anything from outside of Canada via UPS. Just don't use UPS.

Hi everyone,

Since my last encountered with KEH, I've given them another try. I've then ordered from Adorama and BHphotovideo also.

I've asked KEH if they can ship a few Nikon F3's focus screens via USPS and they were ok with it and shipped them inside a small bubble envelope. Package came, no tax no duty. Very Cool!

Then with Helen's help, I've ordered from Adorama using USPS for shipping again. Some how UPS, YES UPS showed up with my order. But after a few e-mails and a call to UPS, Adorama agreed to pay for the difference. Also very Cool and thx again Helen 🙂

Now I've got to try BHphotovideo, I did and I can say that they are the best! No fuss, no guessing of if I'm going to get slap with extra import duty, tax ....etc when the order arrives at the door. Everything is listed clearly when you check-out on their web site(total purchase, duty and shipping). Too cool.

So, if anyone is buying from KEH or adorama, just ask if they can ship via USPS instead of UPS.

I do like that B&H now has the Purolator shipping option as I had $500 order from them that UPS slapped $180 in brokerage on! Sometimes the purolator calculator is down on their site though...
