KIEV KONVERSION .

For some time , I realised that my ASdee would be circumnavigated by a Kiev 3a chassis and Kiev 4 top plate and meter , with KNeB block script .

I understand that some Kiev 4 prototypes of 1957 were like this .

This would permit the use of a lovely old square KNeB case with that neat foot , and easier controls with a meter which works !

The Kiev 4 also looks neater .

I have now found someone to make it for me - using the plain [ non ribbed ] top plate of my rough ' 58 Kiev 4 .

It would also komplete the trilogy of Kiev 2 1952 , Kiev 3 1954 , and Kiev 3 / 4 without number .

This is my ultimate Kiev , my prime user , in place of my Oleg 1979 Kiev 4 with silver and tan deetailing .

I know it's unreasonable , but it's my $150 / £100 [ OUCH , current exchange rate ! ]

... a nickel plated Kiev 2a with 1947 script is still a possibility , to komplement the Kiev 3 / 4 .

These would be my ultimate klassic kameras - of any type !

I can't wait !

It's an old post, but I thought I'd add a bit..

Weirdly enough I sort of have one of these, it seems, just arrived from the Ukraine...

Body is that of a Kiev 4 var 2a (sn #5829xxx) with a Jupiter-8 (sn #5904xxx)...
I have the cardboard tag that gives these serial numbers as well, but the tag claims it's a Kiev 3A... and weirdly enough, the back is that of a 3A (with the nice folding foot)...
The passport that came with it also has handwritten 3A and the correct body serial number as well as the correct lens serial number...but a quality date of 22 XI 62....go figure!

So is this some mixture of old stock that was collated in 1962 to make up a camera?
