Kiev 4a: Is 1/50 a slow speed?

Just wondering:
Is 1/50 considered a slow speed on a 1960 Kiev 4a?
125 through 1250 all only "click" when released, but the fiftieth seems to run some kind of clockwork, like slow speeds usually do...

It is a 'slow speed' doc68 - at 1/125 and above, shutter speed is set by adjusting the gap between the blinds. At 1/50th and below escapements slow the curtains, giving longer exposure.

I found out already, when I opened the Kiev to clean and lube the shutter mechanisms.
(with Russ' KSS open right next to me...of course)
