Yesterday the big brown truck arrived with 2 large box's , one box contained my "New" Kiev 88 along with Volna 80mm lens ,2 6x6 film magazines, waist level finder, TTL finder, Focusing magnifier, 2 filters, lens shade, adapters and instruction manual.
The second box contained a MNP 65 mm lens with carrring case and 2 filters.
All of the camera s/n , finders , magazines etc. were made in 1999.
The 65 mm lens shows a date of 1977.
All of the equiptment is in mint condition, not a mark on it anywere, in fact all of the item came in there orginal box's.
The person I purchased it from has used it a number of time and has now gone over to digital.
By the way all of this for less then $200.00.
Have run 2 rolls of film throught the camera and it runs smooth with no problems, will have the the film delevoped today.
My only question is in regards to weather you can turn the shutter speed setting knob counter-clockwise or not, one set of instruction say you can turn it in either direction and another say only clockwise, of course this is after you wind the film.

My experience with the Salyut S suggests that it is best to advance the shutter speed knob only in a clockwise rotation. However, there are those who don't worry about it. I'm a bit more compulsive that way.

Hi Bob,

apparently on some bodies you can, while on others you can't. (I've got one of either). I'd just stick to doing it clockwise to build up good habits. This saves you from surprises if you ever get to possess or use another body.

nice gear, Bob! let us know what you think of it after you've gotten familiar with it.. and photos of/by it are very welcome.. I've looked at that setup a few times, and I'd like to learn more about it

I've been told that they most often need lubricating and flocking if they come out of the factory unused - using them right away might damage them. Just what I hear, but a lot of people seem to say it. With FSU equipment, I'm always cautious if it looks mint.

Other than that, sure does look like a very nice kit! Not sure if you still have room in yrou avatar to fit it all in, cause that's a lotta gear you just got 😉

That guys for kind comments, will stay with a CW advance and stay out of possible trouble, will post a picture in a day or two.
Should have the film back soon, one roll B/W and another color will let you know how
everthing comes out.

I have a 2004 Kiev 88 CM (Pentacon 6 mount), and I have rotated the shutter speed selector in both directions with no problems.

I also have one of the 65mm Mir 3 lenses (P6 mt which is uncommon for this lens), and I am very impressed with it. My other favorites for this system are the Jupiter 36 250mm and the Vega 28 120mm.

I've been rotating my speed dial both ways on my Salut-S with no problem. If you need repair work, Gevorg at Arax is the man. The Oleg for the Salut/Kiev. $37 for a CLA. $57 for shutter repair. Don't ask how I know. And Max will be glad to know that I should have a strap that will work with the Salut/Kiev/Pentacon pretty soon.

Crikey, Bob - that's a good price! I'm just getting to grips with an Arax 88 kit; cost around $700. Admittedly new and with the Arax reworking...

It's a bit heavier than a zorki, isn't it?

Cheers

Hi Jamie
It sure is, about the same as carrying 3 or 4 Zorki's, but I like the feel of the camera, it feel like a solid piece of equiptment.
Should have my first 2 rolls of film back tomorrow, will post some pictures then.
Good luck with your camera, I'm sure you will have lot of fun with it.

Regards
Bob
