With Steve Ash once more fed yup with badly ''repaired '' ex-USR Kievs , it appears that I now have rather expensive paperweights .

Oleg's Kiev $ / $m are still performing , and I have not dared try out my pair Kiev 2 / 3 from asterlks - which seem smooth and quiet .

A couple of others I aquired later , showing just how fortunate I was in the first cameras !

It would not matter , but they are the only '' toys '' , other than Leica II and prtenders , which seem almsot real to me in an increasingly distant world .

It seems inevitable that this should happen - why could I not have found my safe kompanoins years ago ! ? a bit dee straught .

Hi Dee,
Could you detail or put it in sharp terms, what do you mean concerning Steve Ash ?

Thanks,
Ruben

Sorry , Ruben , Steve Ash , is no longer fixing Kievs , but my friendly Leica dealer says that he can get mine cla by his Leica and other classic cameras engineer - he did my Leica IIc , and it's a deelight .

Though I have just picked up my Leica M8 , it does not stop me wanting all my cameras to be working , not ''ill '' !

This inheritance is rapidly dee's appearing - just have to consolidate what I have , store som slide films , and go back to being poor all the time !

It has been geat while it lasted .

I love your posts Ruben - you are a fanatical as I am - and I have an excuse in having an Autisic ''glitch ''- I just wish that I could take things to pieces , but i would not be able to rebuild anything .

Keep up the interest !

Regards dee

Thank you Dee.
So Steve Ash workshop is "closed" ?

Besides, have you ever tryied to overhaul a Kiev ?

Cheers,
Ruben

No way Ruben !
I have concentration and co ordination problems - I can draw things , but not DO things -
I have trouble knowing '' my '' hands '' ? It's the Autism - which is why it is so graet to find that I can connect to Leica and Kiev .

I am in awe of people that can take apart and fix complicated cameras - and communicate in a non native language .

Respect dee
