Kiev's new suit

Taffer, you know it's not what's on the outside that counts, right? :)

Just imagine that luxurious gold on my M2... mmmm... I can almost smell the vinyl already. :p

You guys make me crazy. Now i start thinking of new cloth for my contax. Especially on its back the wear is a bit ugly, there's one wear-through spot of about 4x4mm, and there are a few zeiss bumps too.
Hmmm, what would fit it... some dark blue or patterned brown, or gray i'd prefer...
Lately Aki-Asahi has the contax iia/iiia coverings too...nothing can stop me now.

Three days ago i had a few friends at my place for a drink evening; they really really liked the contax! They were ripping it out from each other's hands (literally). At a moment i had to intervene to protect the lfront lens from fingerprints.
This never happened before, with the yashica's or the modern SLR stuff. Not even with the old TLR's. There apparently IS something about the Contax.
I just hope i can also be proud of the PHOTOS i take with it...

do they make coverings for other cameras, say, oh i don't know, maybe an old canon rf camera...?

joe

candy apple red...:)

Coverings for other cameras?

Coverings for other cameras?

Guys, it's not that difficult, really... If the cover on your camera is worn out, it's not that difficult to replace it. (Unless it's a Leica, I've heard that the vulcanite is really hard and not easy to scrape off...)

For Kievs (I don't know about the real Contax), the old cover is relatively thin, and comes off really easy.
Be careful when you take it off, and remove it without breaking/tearing it. Then use the old cover as template for making a new one. Save the old cover as a template for any new material you find later, when you want to give your camera a new "dressing", or a new color :)
I'm presently looking for new sources of leatherette, or even *real* leather.... in different colors. I've got black (as seen on the photo above) and blue :D
I've tried various shops that sell purses and such (leather and leather imitation), but no luck so far.
The material can't be too thick, and you have to take into account the tactile properties - i.e. it must not slip when you grab it with sweaty hands, etc...
I'd recomend a cheaper camera first, if you have one - for practice.

As I already said, any glue that is used for rubber should be OK - just as long as it's not too aggressive. That's why I wouldn't recommend any cyanide-based glues ("moment-glue" or "crazy glue", i.e. clear, colorless one that you can glue your fingers with, and later need a surgeon to unglue/separate them :D).

Regards,

Denis

You could use that to really glue your camera to your hands... Then you would never put it down again.

You would take much more photos, and never want to buy a new camera :)

Congrats, Pherdinand!!!!

We should nominate you for the Nobel prize, since you just discovered the final cure for our malady!!! :D

C'm on, guys, Dr. Pherdi has a solution for us....
And, besides, we can brag that the camera is indeed "an extension of the hand" - he, he, he.... :D

Or perhaps we should glue it to the forehead?

;)

:DThanks Denis, but i'm not a doctor -yet. And i will never be that kind of a doctor that helps people...

Yeah...hand or forehead? Fed or Kiev? RFF Poll or just plain fistfight?:)
