My 35RC had very light focus ring, and some other users also have noticed this. Not rattling or wobbly, just without any dampening. I didn't want to take it all apart to relube helicoid so I removed just nameplate. After setting focus distance to minimum frontal part of helicoid is accessible - where I applied lithium grease very sparingly. After working focus ring forth and back for several times I feel it has got better - not as tight as some other lenses but definitely better than it were, not moving from slightest touch.

Well I guess I got lucky with mine, because it doesn't feel like it needs any additional damping. Could be yours was worked on at one time, and the original lube replaced with something lighter.

I had this too (it really didn't seem to make a difference in the focus ability). But after buying and trying 3 other small RFs I decided to have the RC and anything else that was wrong with the camera fixed. So consider yourself lucky, my repair cost 8x the original cost of the camera.

PF: I just had a thought - all this tactile things are very subjective. I'm tactile type, for sure, thus probably I'm more sensitive to this. Some feel it's too light, some - it's quite OK. As I have put my hands only on one RC I can't say if this really is issue. I can only compare to some other cameras...

charjoncharter: this specimen were given to me because of faulty AE. I didn't succeed fixing AE, but cleaned and aligned RF, replaced seals and use it as manual camera. With soft release it feels too nice to retire it!
