Anyone ever tried these? I wanted a Nikon to LTM and Amedeo doesn't seem to be making some. They don't specify if they are for Nikon or Contax though...

Contax RF>LTM the other way round: some weeks ago, I sent PM to Amedeo with exactly the same wish, he didn't read so far :-(

Thanks for the clarification... Sad thing it's not a Nikon to LTM!
Amedeo said that he's gonna make some, but that was some time ago... I guess that lately he has been busy with the Contax/Nikon to u4/3. I sent him an email few weeks ago, still no reply.

Just got an answer from them, they just say it's for Nikon and Contax, not any clearer.
Amedeo made LTM adapters: the threads are very thin, but mine have has held up for a few years.
The M-Mount is sturdier.

I PM'ed Amedeo yesterday and asked about Contax/Nikon to LTM and he said he wasn't producing any "at this time". He was able to give me a solid date on Nikon or Contax to LTM however.

What's the difference between Contax/Nikon -> LTM and Nikon/Contax -> LTM? You mean M in the "solid date" bit?

Hello friends,
I am not convinced to make the LTM adapter because I feel it will have a fragile construction, the M mount have a diameter of 41mm and the LTM 39mm, in the first I have 3.5mm for to put the external wall, internal helical thread, external helical thread and internal wall, in the second I only will have 2.5mm for the same and must add the external 1mm pitch thread.
Regards,
Amedeo.

Dear Hans, please clarify!
They don't clarify it's for Nikon or Contax, they literally say "for Nikon/Contax RF and not Nikon SLR", guess they misunderstood me

They told me the same thing!

The difference between Nikon and Contax on my adapters is 0.11mm in the distance of the internal bayonet mount to the focal plane. A "average" adapter, for Contax AND Nikon should not be good at apertures of 1:4 or less. The tolerance must be +/- 0.02mm (0.0008") in a adapter if you want use apertures up to 1:1.4 with the correspondent brand of lens. The distance from the internal and external bayonet is 3mm between them in Nikon and Contax.

So, what does it mean in the end? With an average Nikon/Contax adapter, both should be relatively accurate at f4.0 no matter what type of lens is used? At f1.4, if you are lucky, the adapter might work?
As for the 0.11mm difference, is Contax or Nikon closer to the film plane? Would it be possible to put a shim (0.11mm) between the camera mount and the LTM adapter to account for that difference?

A adapter with a average distance for Nikon and Contax with a tolerance of +/- 0.02mm will let you use both lenses with apertures of f 1:4 or more, forget to use f 1:1.4.
If the adapter have a tolerance of 0.05mm or more, one lens will work well but the other can´t be used on it, in this case entry the luck than you refer.
Nikon is closer in 0.11mm compared with Contax
You can put a shim in the LTM adapter but you must put the same 0.11 shim in the part of the adapter than push the rangefinder cam.

Amedeo.

Thanks for the clarification. What is the tolerance on your adapter? It seems to be working quite fine at f1.4, is it simply because I got lucky or is it due to your amazing craftmanship?

Any of my recent model adapter must work well at 1:1.4, The tolerance has been improved at the rhythm I have best measurement devices and today I can get +0.02mm -0.01mm. In case of a faulty adapter, than can happen, I offer replacement or full refund including shipping cost.

Amedeo.

Amedeo, do you use the same rotational pitch for both your Nikon and Contax adapters?
