Help the forum out. I am not a marketing guy so I am seeking your help in finding potential advertisers to help pay for the upkeep of this great site. Any company willing to pay for banner space on the site would be extremely helpful in running the site. They would have a great deal of exposure on the web since this is becoming such a popular site. If you know of anyone willing to advertise, please feel free to PM me with contact information.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,

Have you considered contacting Adorama or B&H. You may be able to earn a % of sales generated from folks who link to and buy from them when they directly link from this site. I believe Phototalk.net has this arrangement with Adorama.

Or maybe one of the various photoshop-like makers? Corel, etc? Seems like they'd be hot to trot these days.

I've often wondered about this. We run several internet sites and the cost of hosting them runs five figures a year. We're now subscription-based.
I would not be offended and would happily spring for any suggested donation or subscription fee if it kept this site humming along. I use this site, I like this site and I'd like to chip in my fair share when and if the people running this site decide it's time.

Ditto John M. If people are willing to pay for photo.net, then they sure as hell should be willing to pay for this site.
But of course even better would be to find a commercial sponsor or two who were photographically and environmentally sound.
What about allowing Google to place ads? At least I think that's what they do on some sites I visit.

What about J&C Photo, or CameraQuest?

A second for jandcphoto.com, also photovillage.com, another Voigtlander dealer.

It might help if the users all listed the top vendors they patronize. That information could show an advertiser what kind of market they are advertising into. For example, while I read Stephen Gandy's webpage, I have never purchased anything from him. On the other hand I probably spent close to $1,000 at KEH this year. Every year my wife, 2 daughters and I spend about $1,500 on photoprocessing alone at Walgreen's, and that's only 35mm film., not our 120. Added up among all of us, it could help pursuade an advertiser.

I regularly buy from B&H and my CV stuff is from both Cameraquest and Photo Village. I have used KEH for repair and used equipment purchases. I have also bought from Adorama and Central Camera.
Hmmm, I must buy too much from looking at that list.

How about having different sponsers logo appear on the relevant pages? so cameraquest will sponsor to have their logo and link on the CV sub section, some russian dealer for the others, darkroom supplies store for darkroom, etc etc. ?
And another suggestion is that I think it'll be easier to get lots of sponsors at one go and then offer each sponsors a cheap price of sponsorship, rather than 1 or 2 sponsors who may need to pay more.

I mostly buy from B&H, sometimes from KEH. I would consider buying from CameraQuest now that he'll take credit card sales (before I think it was PayPal and mailed checks or money orders).

Re: Know a potential advertiser ?
As has been mentioned, Google Ads are not the worst idea. I'm just starting a photography forum with two friends.
Hosting and bandwith is easily payed by google ads. Programming and maintenance are part of our hobby.

Hey Leica Lovers, I noticed KB Camera added onto the Site as an advertiser!
If you have not done so yet, check out their website for great information on Leica lenses past and present!

Located in Hollywood, these guys are dying to get their name out. They are strongly committed to "traditional" photography, specializing in paper and chemistry supplies of all kinds, including international brands. Couldn't find a phone number on their site, though....
