If you believe this PetaPixel article, Kodak "is investigating what it takes to being back Kodachrome."

Yeah, I posted this link in the Ektachrome thread as well. I hope this isn't just lip service from Kodak. I don't know if they'll come back with Kodachrome with its original developing methods but I'd like to see them come back with a slide stock with the same color properties though. Whether they do or don't though, I'm happy that they are just releasing old stocks in general. This is great for the film community.

I don't believe it'll make a return unless they manage to reformulate the processing chemicals. Too many steps, and some of the chemicals have been banned by the EPA in the US.

Yeah, or wet plate. It's undecided as of yet.

Well... some of us can only hope, but seriously folks, you know this would be a very expensive proposition, both for the mfg. and the consumer. Unless they could create much simpler process for the same result.

Yeah, agree. Kodachrome was harder to process than Ektachrome to begin with. Unless they reformulate (meaning it wont be the same) I dont see it as a realistic option. Lets remember that Kodachrome was a mainstream product (albeit for professional/serious amateur users product) and right now, although it has grown lately, films is and will be a niche market.
Ektachrome, on the other hand, can be easily processed at home.

Hey, if the process could be modernized maybe it could be done although it is more than likely that old kodachrome would still be unprocessable if they came out with a new kodachrome

Asolutely brilliant and completely true, apart from the bit about Italian cars which should have been placed in its own category around +22C.

Kodak can always repackage Ektachrome and call it Kodachrome.
And with that pre-paid processing envelope no one will catch on for a while.

Well it can be done, if they release home dev-kits, like Tetenal. The old infrastructure must be long gone by now.
