I hadn't heard this till now. I just got some film back with a little insert stating that after the end of the year, the mailers will be no good. The Kodak site says you can trade them for a comparable product - like "single use camera, film batteries, etc). I don't need any film batteries, unfortunately!

single-use camera, film batteries, etc

I guess most were aware of this, but I wasn't. I'll need to shoot a lot of KR this summer to avoid the single use cam deal..

How many mailers do you have? Are mailers cheaper than giving the film to Walmart?

Dwayne's is still accepting Fuji mailers for Fujichrome E6 processing.

I'm verifying

I'm verifying

Walmart is my mailer and they're still in business last I heard.

As I type. I dropped 2 rolls in the box on Monday. We'll see what happens.

I also dropped a roll of 220 C-41 film in the same box. This is going to be interesting.

IT appears some here do not know what the mailers are - they are mailing envelopes for the film which include prepaid processing. So if you have mailers - processing and return postage is free.

I have around 20 or 25 mailers that I received with Kodachrome I purchased. Many people sell the film and mailers together (I think I paid around $6.00 per roll w/processing) So it is MUCH cheaper than Walmart!

I don't think it has anything to do with Dwaynes continued KR processing - just that anyone who has mailers (with no expiration date on them) will have to use them by the end of the year or trade them for batteries.

Fair enough. You got a deal on some film with mailers. Shoot away. I got a deal on just the film. Walmart is the most cost effective way to get the film processed.

Dwayne's is not going away. They continue to sell fresh Kodachrome and process all the Kodachrome they get.

Use more Kodachrome.

LOL. Some people have an oblique sense of humor? ...Anyhow Walmart handles my K64 business at $5 bucks a roll. My office is a mess and I ain't gonna stow and then try to locate where the hell I stowed the "mailers." I have a hard enough time trying to locate my utilitiy bills in the pile of paper work already.

Well my point wasn't to show I got a deal on film and mailers. Or even to claim Dwaynes is stopping processing! 🙄

Many people have these mailers and I figured it makes sense to use them before they are void.

And yes - Walmart is the Greatest!

Yes - I caught the Walmart Mailer joke. I keep mine in the freezer with the film - so all I have to do is move the 10-year-frozen mystery packages to get to them. ( I took a Get Organized course!)

Good to get the word out. This surfaced in the last month. I probably saw it first at APUG. Hopefully everyone will see this.

I have to keep track - 25 rolls is a lot for me to shot in one summer, if I am not running low when fall rolls around, I'll probably give some to people with access to color in winter. New England grey doesn't really do it justice. 🙂

If I can't figure how to scan KR64 I'm done with it. Too much realestate in my freezer and no help from the KR project on how to best scan KR slides.

I have too much KR from the 70's and yet have I heard nothing from the KR project guru how best to use vuescan to get these scanned.

My KR stuff will go in the B/S forums.

Only the mailers will "expire" by the end of this year, after that processing and shipping back has to be paid extra.

KR-64 scanning ? When using Vuescan, in the input menu set to "color-slide" and then in the color menu the slide vendor option to "Kodak" and slide brand option to "Kodachrome". Works very well for me.

Which scanner are you using?
