I came across a roll of Kodacolor negatives from my parents taken probably taken 1969. I scannned it and was amazed at the results; the colour balance, skin tones, tonal range, detail, richness of the colours. In fact the colour is a little more saturated than I would prefer. The only slight downside is the extra grain compared to modern films. Has negative film adavanced that far apart from finer grain?

I know scanning can bring in many variables but these were scanned on a Minolta 5400 with its software and a minor automatic curves correction in photoshop to balance. If could get this film now I would use it.

P.S. Just realised these might look a little different in a browser as the files are Adobe1998 color space.

I understand Rollei's colour films are supposed to be somewhat "retro", you could give it a try. Also Argenti's Vision Arrow film is meant to have an older look to it.

I wonder also the difference might be from older lenses, which often have lower contrast?

Nice. Thanks for sharing. I particulary like the first one - if all of my pictures were similiar in look and feel to that one I would be happy!

I'll try the Rollei Digibase, I was looking at the specs the other day, seems interesting, also the slide version. What I noticed, though, was that the later films in the late 70's and 80's that I took had pretty awful colours. My parents took mostly Kodachrome (sigh!) on a Zeiss zone focus of the period and this is one of few print films taken.
