I will test XX in W665 soon. For our USA readers, a type of 777 panthermic developer.

I think you mean Svema: An Ukrainian film manufacturer ended in the 90's all their activities.

Tasma in the Russian Federation is still producing some films. And if you want to try some good films apart from the marvellous XX: OrWo Filmotec UN54 (iso 100) or N74+ (iso 400) cine motion films, like XX. On several places you can get their smaller bulk 30,5m/100ft instead of the 122m/400ft. In Europe the iso 400 OrWo Filmotec film is a little bit cheaper compared to XX.
Yes Svema. I live in the US so some films are not readily available to me so I buy from the FPP store. They claim that Svema films are fresh dated & made in the Shostka Chemical Plant. I Love the look of Perceptol, one of my favorite developers. Don't mean to get off the subject of XX. Hope to see more of your post.

Indeed:

Is this your film in the Svema cassettes?

I can put every non marking bulk film in a fancy cassette. E.g. Foma's Retropan 320 Soft and going to market it as Svema Retro Foto 200. Or any cheap T.S.F.

I won't reject a smart marketing but telling clients lies about a non existing factory somewhere in Ukraine is like selling turbo diesels in the USA and Europe with a smart chip in the motor management and saying it is the most clean diesel. Thanks to VW, same motors in Audi, Skoda, Seat, some vans it is going to cost a lot of money now. "made in Germany" which means now Pinokkio country ..... :D

Tasma seem to have stopped making normal film for cine und still cameras as well.

If there is not enough demand, you have to stop or produce something else.

We can only hope there is enough space for Kodak, ilford, Foma, Agfa Gevaert, Fuji and maybe Adox. Even a last Fuji B&W film like Acros 100 would be a big loss in this way.

XX E.I. 100 in Windisch W665 an ultra fine grain type developer. Front light, next time also a sunhood on that J-8M.

Zorki-6 with J-8 F/2,0-50mm.

Kodak XX E.I. 250 in HC-110 (B) 6:00 minutes, 20C.

MGIV developed in the new Tetenal Eukobrom AC Hydroquinone free paper developer.

I have just finished a short XX roll 135-12 in the Kiev-4AM. Today really super Autumn weather. I have developed the film in Adox Borax M.Q. for 7:30 minutes (20C) however the film has been overdeveloped a bit. Next try maybe 6:00 minutes.
I made 500ml developer and 100ml regenerator. Hopefully enough for about 8 films.

Also my Tetenal Eukobrom AC, hydroquinone free paper developer won't stay 3 weeks in my Nova processor like my Dektol type regular paper developers D-72 or RPN (Rollei Print Neutral). XX E.I. 250 in Adox Borax M.Q.

OK, I re-worked my XX negatives developed in Adox Borax M.Q. with a Farmer reducer for 5 minutes.

The (new) result:

(And nice when your wife is cleaning the office when the scanner is open ..... = dust )

Both photo prints on Fomatone MG 131, a Foma fiber glossy warm tone paper.

I can tell you in the darkroom there is a huge difference when printing from 35mm Fomapan 400/Retropan 320 soft or TMY-2 (Tmax-400). The same for this XX film even comparing with Tri-X 400.

BTW I am printing till 40x50cm.

Do you think that Fomapan films are inferior?

The technology behind TMY-2 or FP200 is totally different. Kodak makes tabular type crystals while FP200 is a mix between classical cubical Silver crystals and hexagonal crystals. So the result is also different. These tabular technology you can also use for real high speed films while the type FOMA is using stops at an ISO rate at 400-640.
Saying as Dutch FOMA distributor the Fomapan films are inferior would not fit in my marketing strategy. :)
