Hi,

for those who haven't seen it yet:

http://www.bjp-online.com/british-j...02/new-kodak-company-to-continue-selling-film

On the positive side:
At least they intend to continue the current photo film programme (of course the real future demand = our own behaviour as film shooters is the decisive factor).

On the negative side:
Their main business focus is on digital related products as the picture kiosks e.g..
Film is only a side product for them, and no initiatives for film in the pipeline.

Glass is half full......😉

Apart from 400bw, I prefer Fujifilm and Agfa these days. I haven't been able to satisfy myself with Kodak for a while. But then, that's always been the nice thing about film. One can flip and flop between brands and products for different looks. I may revisit them again one day.

Ah, good to see someone's well versed in Das Kapital I thought it just me! 🙂

Actually, that said, I think Apple generally are the exception to that rule. They make something which creates a demand. Baaaaahhh! ;-)

Apple, and basically every toy company ever. I doubt anybody thought they really needed a slinky or silly putty.

It is sad to look at their portfolio and see no transparency film, but I am glad to be able to buy Tri-X for the forseeable future. I wish them luck ! The rest is up to us ......

Both!!!

Both!!!

actually, coming from a 40 year marketing background, a good company creates the product AND the demand coincident to one another.

A digital camera is not obsolete so long as it does what you need it to do....

Film is here to stay and I'm not remotely concerned. I don't feel the need for any developments beyond what we already have, so continuing existing products is fine by me!

Double X B&W film is what Eastman will be producing, that`s on Hollywood`s list of films they agreed to buy for a five year´s time period. About other, consumer Kodak films, I am not too sure about...But , "dream on, guys" that`s what life is for most people anyway.
