I just went to the Kodak Corporation's website and looked for film. Specifically I was looking for a venerable and legendary product, Tri X 320 ISO

I selected "film" from the dropdown menu, then selected "professional" after finding out "consumer" meant only 2 selections of 135 film! The "Professional" page lists Tri X in 4x5 sheets only.

So I'm wondering, has Kodak dropped Tri X in 135 and 120? I know they dropped the Tri X in 220. Have they dropped the entire line? Please tell me there's an error on the website.

Wow ... I hope people read down to Tim's post otherwise there may be sobbing film shooters perched on window ledges all around the world!

😀

Tri-X 35mm and 120 is available as Tri-X 400.

Tri-X in sheets is Tri-X 320.

The Tri-X that was dropped earlier in the year was Tri-X 320 in 120 and 220 format.

Tri-X at Kodak

The quick url to Kodak B&W films is www.kodak.com/go/bwfilms. Professional films is www.kodak.com/go/professional.

Hi Tim, I thought it was only the Tri X 320 in "220" that was dropped and the 120 format was retained. I must be thinking it was the same treatment given by Fuji on their Acros 100 ISO in 220 which they dropped but retained the 120 format.

If Tri X 320's been dropped in 120 and 220 I'm depressed. Oh well.... I guess there's TMax 100 ISO a totally different film I know but the rest of the BW at Kodak doesn't do much for me. I'm down to one BW with Kodak. Hopefully Ilford stays the course.

Nope, Tri-X 320 in 120 and 220 was discontinued. They do make T-Max 400, the new stuff, in 120. Great film.

I've never been a fan of T grain emulsions personally but many swear by them. I hope that Kodak don't ever decide that they are all we really need for black and white!

I think if Kodak re-released Panatomic X they would have a best seller on their hands. There is a lot of renewed interest in slower stocks these days with what Efke has brought to the market. I'm just wishing out loud...

While I shoot mostly Tri-X, I've been REALLY impressed with T-Max 400. Sharp, fine grained, fast, etc. It's good stuff.

If you really like Plus-X and shoot 120, you might want to stock up. It looks like it's going away.

I can get by with 100 ISO film 90% of the time here in Oz. Even an average 100 ISO film looks better to my eyes than any 400 I've used.
