I would guess a lot of you know already, but Ektar 100 is a great film for scanning.
I'd been using digital for the last year or so, but for the last couple of week I locked the digital away and pulled the good old R7 off the shelf and went out and got some film
I loaded up yesterday and went to the San Jose Ubon Festival and shot a couple of rolls.
Here are a few images using Kodak Ektar and either a 90 Summicron R or the 90 with a 2x extender.

Nice colors. It doesn't blow out skin tones like I thought it would.

Great, Lets see some more shots. Maybe we can keep Kodak in the film business

I just ordered some in 120. They still have that rebate going on till the end of July. Great way to give the film a try.

I posted this in a thread last week. I really like it in 120. I need to try it out on different subjects s'more though.

May I ask what scanners and software you use when scanning this stuff? I've used it many times, and I'm never really satisfied with the colour balance I get, even with shots in direct sunlight.

Just a V500 and Vuescan for me.

I like it more in 120, as well. This is scanned on a v700 with a level adjustment in PS
I also like it in 35mm. And I agree it's very easy to scan.

DO NOT overexpose, or the colour is lousy: colour casts, oversaturated. At the right exposure, on the other hand, it's superb. Think of it as a print film with the latitude of a slide film.
I scan mine with the last of the Konica Minolta 5400 series.
Cheers,

Roger - thanks. Good to know. I like this film alot, but it is rare as hens teeth in the UK. The local Calumet here in Central London is always out of stock.

Thanks for the exposure tip. I got myself some Ektar 120 rolls for a trip to Estonia. Must remember to take that light meter!

I wonder if it will ever be available in Australia?... I am sick of calling Kodak and getting no reply. Lovely pics BTW. I too am surprised by the quality of the skin tones.

Roger: Are you rating it at box speed and then metering to ensure highlights aren't blown, i.e., a modified zone system approach?

I was really disappointed with Ektar 100 at first. I got my prints back from snappy snaps, looked at them, and thought 'That building was NOT so purple!'
The second roll I shot I developed myself (Tetenal Colortec 1ltr C41 kit) and was much happier, although it still runs towards the purple in shadows.

I scanned the negatives on my Epson F3200.
I want to try some in my old Olympus Pen FT - the grain's so fine it should offset the losses of the smaller frame.

Lovely shots here, folks!
My first three rolls are off at the lab now--one roll shot with my pinhole set up, the other two in a Bessa and with various lenses; I'm fairly hopeful about the results.
The posted photos are encouraging, thanks!
