For landscapes I now have a very serious competitor to Velvia and as much as I love slides, C41 is a bit more versatile in getting prints done when you don't have a 120 scanner (as yet.)

Superb news, well, this will be one to mention down the pub at this weekend's Sussex Photo gathering 😀

It's not suitable for everything and I still like Reala 100 and Pro 160C but for something a bit warmer, this is perfect.

Just wondering, has any one pushed Ektar a couple of stops? Or maybe can we get a box-rated 400 speed version now? Seems like the 120 version would be a good candidate for that.

Wasn't Panatomic X the negative stock in Polaroid 55 and 665 positive/negative film? Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff.

Where are the naysayers when you need 'em? C'mon, tell us how this shows that Kodak is about to go under- some desperate last gasp to attempt to depreciate those stocks of Estar base?? Something??

Wow, no naysayers yet? I'll try my best - but I won't say they are going under...

Instead I'll express my distrust of their intentions. Ektar 100 is very good film and I am glad that they are going to produce it in 120.

However I suspect we will see a reduction in E-6 film choices, justified by its availability. IMO, they are positioning it as such a replacement (from the website)...

This is consistent with their elimination/reduction of a number of chemistry kits and individual products (both C-41 and E-6). This shift is clearly away from small batch development to larger machine lab products.

So you have to assume they have film strategy and a conspiratorial type could see it as - 1) reduce development options for E-6 2)introduce E-6 substitute C-41 films 3) pare down or eventually eliminate E-6 films and chemistry.

But, since I am a realist, I'll still buy the 120 Ektar...

ektar 100- the best reason to take out again roundshot 65/70/220 rotapancam. yes 120 can be used, shift-built in(26mm up). what do we need more regarding quick shot and high quality. panorama can be converted in altostorms rectiliniar panorama plugin( up to 160 degr.) or converted in panorama-factory during stitching. no other superwideangle shot looks the same- undestorted.
