Kodak files for U.S. bankruptcy protection

Eastman Kodak Co. has filed for bankruptcy protection, capping a prolonged plunge for one of America’s best-known companies.
The Chapter 11 filing may give Kodak, which traces its roots to 1880, the ability to find buyers for some of its 1,100 digital patents, a major portion of its value.

But they say that Film is profitable!!
So what was not profitable? The Leica sensors?!!

Film division is still profitable but no longer the major source of income for Kodak since they are a very large company and the profits gained from selling films are not enough to sustain such big company.

I believe they tried to follow the digital trend, borrowed money and invested in digital division but since the digital market has always been very competent, they struggled to catch up with heavy debts.

Just my humble point of view tho.
