Kodak Junior 620 folder (1935-1939)

I just got a Kodak Junior 620 from a co-worker, and at first sight the camera is very good. No holes in the bellows, the shutter seems correct (all 2 speeds) and the lens seems clear - I'll have to check with my LED flashlight, but it looks great.

As it's 620 film,what are my options, respooling 120 film or are there 620's around?

I really want to try it - it looks gorgeous.

You can wipe the bellows with a damp cloth.

Respooled 620 is available at inflated prices from some webstores.
Spooling 120 to 620 yourself is easy though.Plenty of tutorials for this on the web.

One may find lovely 620 Kodaks with good lens/shutters for a song. Years ago I bought several NOS bellows for these old Kodaks but have installed only two. Recently I have avoided the roll-your-own hassles by shooting European folders.

There is something about using a primitive camera that takes me back to the basics of photography though.

While I have the means to roll my own, I tend to use this chap:

Currently expecting stock next week, and you'd need to check postage to Luxembourg of course. The film is, I think, Fuji Neopan 100, and it is really rather lovely. Here's an example, shot with a similar vintage of camera, under challenging conditions!

In the US , Blue Moon and Machine has a selection of 120 film on properly trimmed spools. You just need the original 620 take up spool. This gives you the trimmed 120 spools to reroll your 120 film on to later. The advantage to this that's frequently neglected in this process, is that the original 620 metal spools being of a smaller shaft diameter , upon rerolling require the tape to be removed from the backing paper and then retaped. Not the end of the world, but the first one or two times it's no cause for joy.... Peter
