My interest was piqued in another thread about an antique MF camera and wanted to know if anyone out there knew any details about the camera listed in the subject: Kodak Pocket Jr. 1A (i.e. focal length, aperture size, shutter speed) or how I could go about determining them myself.

Thanks for you help.

I have a couple and should point out they look neat, but I have had a devil of a time putting together a working one. Kodak used a really cheap material for the bellows that does not age nearly as well as the leather that Zeiss used on its cameras, and they are not that easy to replace. Certo6 quoted $80, I think, to replace the one on mine and commented on that. On top of that, the material they used for the red window is really thin and I broke the one on mine without even trying.

All that, and it is a lot bigger than my Zeiss Ikonta and Nettar, and heavier.

That said, I am very much looking forward to finally getting mine working again, even if it is going to cost a lot more than it is worth 😀 😀

Thanks for these response that is very helpful. The one link (http://members.aol.com/Chuck02178/brownie.htm) had exactly what I was looking for so I think I know what I'm working with--approximately, anyway. A few more rolls to experiment with and everything should be sorted out.

It's too bad to hear about your experiences with the camera, Richie. I am very lucky that everything on mine is near mint condition. The only thing wrong is cosmetic: a bit of the covering is coming off on one side but only lifting up about a cm or so.

My shutter is fine and the bellows are in excellent shape. I just need to get out and use it more to see if it really is in working order for taking photos.
