Hiya,

does anybody have experience in using Kodak Profoto XL 100 36+ film? I managed to buy a few rolls at a pretty reasonable €1.50/each price while on a work trip in Kenya. Haven't shot any yet though. What is it like - similar to Gold 100?

How many frames does the 36+ signify? I tend to get 37-38 from a regular roll using my CLE, in which the frame counter stops at 36.

cheers,

Jani

I used the old, non-XL ProFoto 100 quite a bit. It was quite cheap in 5-roll boxes, definitely cheaper than Portra at the time. It was nicely finegrained, no excessive colour saturation like some Fuji consumer films. Something between Portra 160NC and 160VC, maybe. Nice film for general use, but I preferred Portra NC or Fuji NPS 160. Never shot a roll of Gold 100 for some reason.

If the XL version is anything like the old ProFoto 100, then you're good to go, I think 🙂

I found the PDF info for it. It says similar characteristics to those of Kodak Gold and intended for room temperature storage. I dunno, but I'll give it a try. I remember using that Ultra 100 a couple of times. I was pleased with the results.

Can you point me to the link? I found only ProFoto 100, but not XL.
