Kodak Retina IB (Typ 019 - Ausf II)

TBH, Godfrey, that sound pretty un-crazy to me, just creating a "special" and keeping another old Kodak in use. Looks great!

Besides, as documented elsewhere here, I ended up with three identical 620 folders, that's crazier if you ask me.
Yeah, we all have our 'crazy' ... 🙂

I have the same collection of accessory lenses for the Xenon originals. All the lens numbers on the 50mm lenses match on all my bodies. There's one IIc body (early serial number) with a ten-leaf iris vs all the others with five-leaf irises. The ten-leaf iris body has a couple of other minor deviations from all the others as well (design of the aperture/EV ring and indicating pointer).

David Jentz over v on the Retina and Retinette Lovers page on Fartbook would be able to tell you the significance of those, and date them all as well.

So what was the crazy project?
Finding a IIc that wasn't bashed up so that I could use the top cover and the rest of the required bits to covert my IIIc with bashed cover and dead meter to be useful but without ripping apart a IIc that could easily be restored to as new condition ... That's why I bought four, found two of them to be easily restorable, found one with damaged internals and a good top cover that I used, and still have one in a box to evaluate for rebuild. Another thing that made it crazy was that I put absolute low ball bids on four cameras listed as "for parts only -- not repairable", won all of them at auction, and then found two of them simply needed a good clean and service to be perfect.

I'm happy with the Retina IIIcx that came out of it, and the two superb working IIc models, but it was a bit crazy in the doing of it.

Long memory!

Sounds a fun project.
