Any recommended repair persons in the US. Not interested in shops overseas, so please don't comment about what a great job so and so does that doesn't live in the US.

Although I've never used their services, I have heard good things about Zack's here and on other forums. And, they are only about an hour's drive from me. I should visit his shop sometime.

Zacks seems a good option for all repair work. If memory serves they were one of the few who could solve the light leak problems in some M5's.

It’s good to have this info.

One of my IIa’s has an issue with the flat spring used to advance the frame count. The spring is there, it’s not broken, its placement and appearance is identical to that of my other IIa, yet this one doesn’t advance the count.

If one of these shops could solve this mystery; perhaps I can save the cost of sending it to NZ.

The Retina IIa advance and exposure counter is a PINTA. I learned years ago to tape it together when taking it off the camera to pop the top and to use Dental Floss to hold the Claw back when putting it back on.

The series that followed- with the bottom lever- much easier to work on.

You are right about the IIa advance/frame counter. And I think I used thread or the like, as you describe. The bottom lever Retinas look great, but that bottom lever is something I've never gotten used to. My right fingers have to do an elaborate dance from the shutter release, down to the wind lever and back again. Awkward.
