Yo!

I just received one of these, and three matching Shneider lenses (135mm f/4, 28mm f/4 & 50mm f/1.9). The entire setup appears to be in "mint" condition. The Camera and lenses are German made. Can anyone tell me anything more about them? When were they made, quality, etc?

Thanks
Russ

Hello:

My second "real" camera was a Reflex 111. They are jewel like very usable picture takers. The bottom wind lever is sometimes hard to get used to and the "mirror return-film wind-shutter cocking linkage" is a weak point. This said mine never failed until stolen.

They were made in Germany from 1960-1964. The Xenon and the whole lens set are an enviable and capable combination*. Good picture taking and a Happy New Year.

yours
Frank

* note it can appear jammed if the film count down indicator has not been set back.

If the DOF lines move as you change F-Stop the lenses will also RF couple with the Retina IIIS. The 50/1.9 is top notch, the 28mm/4 and 135/4 are "good". The close-focus of the 135 is just under 14'. If they lock-up, the Reflex cameras are hard to work on. The prisms tend to dsilver, but I have had luck replacing the one in the Reflex-S with a prism from a Monolta XG-9.

The Reflex is very quiet, with its non-instant return mirror. Do not get your finger stuck in it.
