Kodak Retina

Anyone have any experience servicing a Kodak Relic II? [They called it the Retine II, but my description is more accurate now.] I acquired one in a yard sale aboutr forty years ago that was almost unused. I ran a bit of film through and then put it away. Now it does not work properly. The shutter does not cock [it had to have film in it so that it would advance and cock the shutter. I put film in and it did not work.] I looked in and saw some thing that looked amiss and "adjusted it." No luck. This is a complicated tinkertoy that was a tribute to minute mechanical linkages. Any help would be appreciated.

If it's a Retina II, it probably has film winding (with a knob) and shutter cocking as separate operations. The lever wind models (IIa, Ia, etc.) combined these operations. That attempt at making the camera easier to use added complication and unreliability. The first cameras I tried to repair myself, just a few years ago, were Retina IIa's I bought as 'parts' cameras. Once repaired they're surprisingly reliable.

I know when I first found my granfathers Retina Reflex S, I couldn't cock the shutteron it. I took it to a shop and they showed me the buttons and slider you had to push to reset the counter. I don't know if its the same as yours, but I hope this helps a little anyway.
