Kodak sells Gelatin Business

What it probably means is that they are focussing their business in the hopes of keeping it afloat. As far as film goes, they likely can buy all the gelatin they need or want from that source or some other source -- no real need to own the jello factory.

Something ironic about the link on that page, "Sheet-music Sellers Hang-On" which leads to a preview entitled "Awaiting the Day Sheet Music Dies."
Glasses half-empty or half-full is not a debate limited to film.

Crap, they're now killing sheet music as well? Is nothing sacred anymore!? I'm typing this on my iPad, so I'm really trying to like digital, but really, there will be a day when we stockpile paper just to be able to smell it!

Yeah, I guess they could buy it from a vendor for less than the cost of making it themselves. Or just jack up the price of the film to cover any additional cost in outsourcing it.

🙁 Periodically I get all excited about getting some more (analog) goodies, and then stuff like this crops up. Then I second-guess it, and hold off. Say, this is bad for business! 😉
