Kodak Signet 35 Anodized or Painted?

I saw an article today saying the air force version, the black one, was anodized black? Can anyone confirm that it was anodized and not black paint?

Also, as a side note, any theories why the whole thing is aluminum but the bottom is made of plastic?

The body appears to be black anodized, whereas the shutter and lens mount appear to be painted black. This is also mentioned in the Camera-Wiki site (http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Kodak_Signet_35). David
