Kodak T-Max and purple negatives

I use Tetenal Superfix Plus diluted at 1+9 and I fix my films for about 20 minutes, and I do agitate the tank quite regularly while fixing.

Wow! I almost do everything (developing/fixing/rinsing/photo-flo) in less than your fixing time alone.

I DO get a slight purple cast with Tri-X and T-Max. Unnoticeable after a few days. I wonder if my negatives will survive the winter 😉

BTW, why do you say that 120 film depletes fixer twice as fast as 135? The surface of the 120 and 135 36 roll is roughly the same. Is there something else about 120 film?

The funny thing to me is that I've never ever had my T-Max 400 or 3200 come out with even the slightest tint, but all of my Tri-X does.

You're theorically right but this is what I've experienced over time. There are emulsion and film specialists here who might have some serious explanations.

Yet if you consider that there are about 14x56x56 square millimeters of emulsion to fix on a 120 roll and 40x24x36 square millimeters to fix on a 135 roll (not counting the margins in), the 120 roll by itself has more surface of emulsion to fix than the 135 roll... not twice more, but more nonetheless.
