I got an email from Adorama today that stated :"Due to declining film sales and contractual bankruptcy obligations, Kodak is announcing the discontinuance of many of our B&W film products starting January 1, 2015. These films tentatively include Tri-X and T-Max in 35mm and 120 formats. The formulas and manufacturing equipment have been pre sold to Agfa and Lucky film companies. Kodak wishes to thank all of our loyal customers who have stood by us for many years, and we hope to have our new films in production by 2015 so that photographers will still be able to buy our film products with no lapse in service. Our first films will be a little different in order to satisfy today's changing tastes. They will offer a more "digital" look, yet retain many of the old film's characteristics".

I sorta saw this coming.

This would've been a bit of a funny April 1 if it weren't for the fact that several newspapers will pick it up and run it as fact on their front pages tomorrow.

two minds, same thought!:D
I´m learning, was fooled thoroughly by the wife earlier today. :bang:

It is a good thing they are releasing that digital insert the size of a 35mm film can so that you can just pop one of those in any film camera and convert it to digital. I am sure you have seen the photos, the one with the sensor you pull out, stretch over the film plane and attach to the take up spool.

Yes! And such amazing resolution for EI 25,600.

Discontinuing Tri X in favour of digital looking films would be like discontinuing sex in favour of fairy tales.

Kodak dont make tri-x... Its Kodak Alaris that makes tri-x.

If you are going to do an April fools, at least get the name right.

I managed to not get fooled for the whole day, but now i got busted.
I started to think what film could possibly replace my beloved tri x, could Ilford be something or Foma or... then it hit me... oh it´s that day

Wow, I have to admit that it sounded believable. But mostly because I just EXPECT Kodak to do something like that. This humor is very black... My first thought was, "Well, Ilford will turn a profit out of this..." Just somehow business as usual.

Once upon a time Journalism was fairly immune to 4/1 jokes because they actually...uhh...journaled. But I think the BBC once ran a report on the annual spaghetti harvest going on in Italy that fooled a lot of people.

The vendor might be a bit ticked here too.

And I just recieved my FM2n this noon as my go-to Tri-X camera with its 1/4000th sec top speed getting me to 5.6 at the beach! And then THIS...
And then I remembered........... DOH!
