Kodak to sell China Lucky stake, ending partnership

Naw, the sky isn't falling. I'm not sure of their initial strategy, but it seems like Kodak felt a local manufacturing facility for Asia would be a good idea. The assumption may have been that film will sell well until China & other developing parts of Asia "caught up" in terms of income.

Well, it often doesn't work that way in emerging countries. There is a kind of technological leapfrog that occurs, for a variety of reasons. Plus they underestimated the rapid economic progress that was made. A lot of companies underestimated that piece.

What Trius said.

And, speaking of technological "leapfrogging", care to guess how many of those cell phones being sold, and used, in these "emerging" economies have built-in cameras? Makers of p/s digital cameras may be in for a rude surprise as well.
