Back in 2009 in my very first post I told how I had to file down the foot on my rangefinder to fit the nonstandard shoe on my Tourist. Bummer. Well, today I was taking another look at the shoe on my Tourist, and I discovered that the metal shoe was indeed standard size. It was just that the plastic top plate made the opening too narrow. A couple of minutes with a good sharp knife solved that problem. I now have a standard shoe on my Tourist.

For you folks with a Tourist II it's a bit more complicated. The shoe opening is obstructed not only with plastic but with metal as well. In addition to the knife you will need a small square needle point file. Cut away the plastic and file the metal as necessary. Not to worry, the metal is very soft, and it won't take too long to remove.

In all cases you will probably have to bend the springs in the shoe to give a bit more clearance.
