Koloured Kievs - just for fun .

... if you were to repaint your Kiev , Zorki , whatever - which colour would you chose - and why ?

This is prompted by the Olive M8 recently launched - which would suit a Kiev 4a beautifully . Black is so overdone !

My triple Kiev II / III / IV will be in light metallic blue 'cos it is not too far from chrome , looks stunning with the tan cases and tan covering , and is very different .

There is also a lovely metallic Pink Honda Jazz colour ... maybe not !

Kool , konservative or kontroversial ?
 
I understand that light metallic blue is the preferred colour for Ferrari press cars because it shows off the curves well so it might not be the best choice for the rather angular Kiev 🙂

I think I would have to go for a nice solid sky blue like they used to use on those old ice cream vans 😉

Some time ago, there was a thread on here regarding someone on e**y selling a Chocolate-and-cream "Kontax". I rather liked it, though that might just be because it would look good next to my Argus C3 Matchmatic...

.... hmm , I have some bright pink faux leather - don't tempt me .... and bright green !

...nice thought about the blue and curves - but it is a bright purlish '' Ice Blue '' from Honda .

I am trying to respect the classic nature of the camera , but I was tempted by a lovely brown and brass Leica copy - but not sure on the bigger Kiev .
 
Metallic Blue or Green would be nice 🙄 maybe you can get or try paint with a 'hammered' effect. I painted the iron frame of a grand piano yesterday with hammered metal paint 🙄
 
I won't change anything, i really like this classic contax-style. All those repaints, tunings etc ... IMO looks cool for first few minutes and then comes the idea "omg what they did with this camera" ...

Kievs looks the best in silver like grandpa Contax was designed.
 
I have though about a FED5 painted in "John Deere" green with yellow "leather" but haven't wanted it quite badly enough to pay for the necessary work. Still think it would look pretty cool.
Dee, I also think most metallic colors would look sharp on the Kontaxes. I'd prefer some black leather/griptac though.

Charcoal grey or something close to that funny blue/teal colour in Bessa's. Subdued, not black, futuristic meets vintage 🙂
 
Personally I like this kolour scheme - nice, Eh ? and very well done.

I think (?) these photos were posted on rf a while back.
