Konica A4 any good P&S?

Just found one of these in quite good condition for a fair price (it had at least a battery inside and working).
I am now thinking will i be wasting my time shooting a film thru it or does it have a good lens, lighmetering, flashshooting etc?
It is very pocketable being slim, a bit noisy and very plastic. Also does have some "close-focus" 0.35-0.6m range by-button-mode which could be a nice feature as well.

Hi,

They are very pleasant cameras to use.

The camera back has a CR2025 battery in it to power up the display. People often don't know about this and think the camera is U/S.

The camera has to be turned on and then the shutter squeezed after loading the film for it to auto load, which can be unexpected.

It's one of my favourite cameras for carrying all the time and for travel. It was "Camera of the Year" in 1990...

This was some grannys camera, hardly any markings on it, found it in one of those charity flee markets to where people donate their loved ones belongins after they pass away, together with an Olympus Mju:II, total for both was 8 euros, not too bad i think?

If anyone has found an online inst.manual for this id be interested in it, have not yet found one myself.

A good find for a nice price. The A4 is not known to me but I know some people say it's as good as the Yashica T3 which it resembles somewhat. Myself, I just recently found a mintish, red Konica C35 EF3 for a tenner. It's a joy to use, looks terrific and the lens is a real Hexanon.

Not bad at all. You'll be pleased with them both if they are OK. Although they are both P&S's they are completely different in use and you will get a pleasant surprise when you see the results, I think. Here's a couple of shots from my old one.

Taken into the sun, as you can see and the camera coped very well, thanks to centre weighted metering.

A crop as someone walked past just as I took it...

I thought you had the manual, from your comments, otherwise I would have given the link: sorry about that.

Your A4 seemed to handle light good.
I loaded a film in my A4 and going to test shoot it just to see if it operates still as i dont know this particular cameras history.

A4 is precursor of BigMini, misses exp. correction and long times, but I like it. One can set mode (flash OFF) while it's not turned on and then switch camera and mode is retained - useful! Unfortunately, after switching camera off mode is reset back to Auto.

This days I more prefer my other Konicas like C35 EF3 and III but A4 has sweet spot in my heart as my second decent compact.

I just sold my Contax T2 and kept the Konica A4.
NOT saying they're on par, but the A4 is a great little camera!

This affection for the camera is very interesting as I feel it too and I try to be logical about these things.
