Hi

I put a roll of rollei 100 film in the hexar (which is non-DX coded apx100) and it shoots and winds but the counter is staying on zero.

Is this normal?

Thanks!

F*@%$^&

Cant believe it. I did think that while i was out but assumed it was to do with the non-DX.

Unbelievable, some absolutely amazin shots i missed. Quite embarrassing!

Never mind, we've all done it and are just waiting for the T-Shirt...

Regards, David

PS It could be worse, there's a story or myth about someone who retired and spent a lot of money on a Leica and a round the world trip. Got home and all the films were blank. He'd not RTFM and didn't know about taking the lens cap off.

And a lot of people don't realise that the 5cm Elmar has to be pulled out and twisted into the locked position before shooting...

Recently I spend a day shooting with a digital user friend who had just bought an MP. While sitting down for a cup of coffee I gave him a lecture on proper film loading. I then decided to finish the roll in the cafe and to my dismay the counter was going beyond 37 and then it hit me. How embarrassing.

I took some nice shots...

No film at all.

What a pain! 1999 I still used the Rollei B35 for holiday snaps. It happened the same for many nice shots of our son during the last holiday week 😱

Don't ask for the comments about incompetent gear heads coming from my wife... :bang:

I took 36 exposures all on top of one another. The wind sprocket hadn't quite engaged the film and it wasn't being wound on. Realised when the film took 3 seconds to wind back. 🙁

I'm sure we all have stories about the "ones that got away". You live and learn.

Although I don't pretend they're the "perfect camera", that's one of the reasons I love the Oly XA series -- when you roll the film on you can see the little rewind knob spinning backwards.

I know there are other cameras like that too -- everything without autowind, I guess.

Of course, the good autowinders are quite a bit faster to load and unload...
